 As soon as one band's picked up the Mercury Prize, mutterings begin to spread about future winners. Talk's currently surrounding the likes of Disclosure, Laura Mvula and Arctic Monkeys, all in contention for this year's gong. But let's look ahead: The following are all midway through a new record - from debuts to follow-ups, here's a rundown of who could be appearing at the 2014 ceremony.

Temples

If any 2014 debut's in with a shot of the Mercury, it could come from Heavenly Records-signed Kettering boys Temples. Their psych-revivalism could easily impress on a full-length. They could be taking their time, though. Speaking to DIY in May, the band stated: "We could potentially release a record tomorrow because we record a lot. It’s not a case of us working on demos for an album; there’s a lot of stuff recorded. I just don’t think people would be ready for it. We’re always progressing so we want to wait until we’ve progressed enough to feel we warrant releasing an album."
